Charity Overview
We are Lev Chaim, a Manchester-based charity providing vital cancer care when it is needed most. Our mission is simple but urgent: no one should face cancer alone, and no one should lose precious time in accessing the care that could change, or save, their life.
From the very first symptom through to diagnosis and beyond, we stand alongside individuals and families during some of their most frightening and uncertain moments. We provide practical, family-centred support, expert medical guidance, and trusted community education, helping people feel supported, informed, and less alone.
Our 24/7 approach means we are there when it matters most: responding quickly, compassionately, and consistently. Each year, we support hundreds of families, easing the emotional and practical burden of cancer and helping to improve outcomes across our community.

Practical Care & Family Support
Providing practical, personalised support services — including food packages, childcare, cleaning assistance, and wider family support — to ease the burden of cancer for patients and their families when they need it most.
Community Education & Awareness
Delivering cancer awareness events, symptom-check training, and targeted GP education sessions that promote early detection, challenge stigma, and help patients access faster diagnoses and treatment.
Medical Advice & Guidance
Providing trusted guidance, advocacy, and compassionate one-to-one support that helps patients understand their options, navigate appointments, and feel informed throughout their cancer journey.
Diagnosis Support
Enabling rapid access to tests, specialist consultations, and second opinions by working closely with NHS and private providers to reduce delays and ensure patients receive timely cancer diagnosis, ultimately enhancing survival rates.
Sarah’s Story
Sarah was only 13 years old when she began experiencing severe fatigue, sudden mood changes, and declining eyesight that left her family deeply concerned. Initial blood tests and specialist assessments came back clear, with symptoms attributed to possible emotional causes. However, as her condition worsened, she was referred for an MRI, with the earliest appointment scheduled three weeks away and initially offered remotely. Unsure and increasingly anxious, her family turned to Lev Chaim for support.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, we acted immediately and secured an in-person MRI within just two days. This rapid intervention led to the diagnosis of a benign brain tumour. The speed of this pathway was critical in ensuring timely medical care and avoiding further deterioration, particularly to Sarah’s vision.
Alongside fast-tracking her care, Lev Chaim provided ongoing emotional and practical support to the family- offering regular check-ins, reassurance, and thoughtful gestures for Sarah that helped sustain her wellbeing during a frightening period.
We are incredibly grateful for all of Lev Chaim’s help and support for our daughter, Sarah, who provided reassurance, listened, and empathised with our pain. Their thoughtful gestures carried us through our challenging period and without them, we would have received the diagnosis later, where every passing day was crucial.
